Letters

My students write me Weekly Letters about our current novel in my class. Yesterday, instead of writing about “A Lesson Before Dying,” one of my boys wrote me this instead:

“Dear Ms. Graham, I need help because i do not get this so can u help me please. I do not want to fail this class i need help. I don’t think im learning nothing in this class this is Just my opinion I don’t want to make u feel bad but im just say what i think is right can i come to u 1 day after school.”

Maybe I should start a collection called “Kid, You Secretly Remind Me Why I’m Doing This” ??
